The ICO’s journalism code of practice submitted to the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology on 6 July 2023.
Please note: the code will not come into force until it has been laid before parliament by the Secretary of State. It will achieve “statutory status” when it has been laid before Parliament for 40 sitting days and no resolution has been made. Assuming no resolution is made, the Information Commissioner must issue the code. It will then come into force 21 days after it is issued.
