March 2025: the Media Lawyers Association submitted a response to the CPS’s Consultation on the Revised Media Protocol and new supporting User Guidance.
The Media Protocol was first introduced in 2005 with the aim of improving press access to prosecution material for the purpose of contemporaneous court reporting. The CPS published draft updated guidance in January 2025. The Media Lawyers Association’s response can be seen and downloaded here –
